Team Spotlight: Wendy Doherty, Director of Strategic Sales at Get Covered

At Get Covered, we believe strong partnerships start with strong people. We’re excited to welcome Wendy Doherty as our new Director of Strategic Sales, a multifamily veteran with more than 30 years of experience, deep industry roots, and a relationship-first mindset.
We spoke with Wendy to learn more about her journey, what shapes her approach to strategic sales, and what drew her to Get Covered.

From Leasing Agent to Industry Leader

Wendy didn’t plan on building a 30+ year career in multifamily, she found it by accident.
“I was moving into an apartment years ago, and the leasing agent looked up at me and said, ‘You would be an amazing leasing agent. Do you need a job?’ I said yes immediately.”
Within three days, Wendy was working at Camden Property Trust. What began as a job quickly turned into a career. She was promoted to assistant manager within six months and became a property manager within two years, spending the next 15 years growing with the company.
“Multifamily helped shape me into the professional I am today,” she says. “I truly grew up in this industry.”
After her asset was sold, Wendy transitioned to the vendor and proptech side, where she discovered her passion for helping companies grow. At Fetch, her first true startup experience, she learned to think nationally and strategically, adapting quickly in an evolving environment while building long-term partnerships.

A Partnership-First Approach

Two experiences shaped Wendy’s philosophy:
  • Camden: Taught her values-driven leadership: doing the right thing, staying customer-focused, and paying attention to the “sprinkles” — the small, human details that matter.
  • Fetch: Expanded her strategic lens and strengthened her ability to navigate change while supporting operators at scale.
“I don’t see myself as a salesperson. I see myself as a partner. My focus is on understanding the business, earning trust, and building long-term relationships that create real value.”
Her one-sentence definition of strategic sales says it all:
“Strategic sales start with trust, are built through relationships, and succeed when both sides feel like true partners.”

Why Get Covered?

After three decades in multifamily, Wendy knows culture when she sees it.
“What excited me most about joining Get Covered was the people and the culture. You can’t fake culture. You can feel it.”
She recognized a familiar, values-driven foundation; one focused on respect, trust, and doing the right thing while still driving meaningful results.
“When you create an environment where people feel supported, valued, and aligned around a shared mission, everything else follows.”

Advice for the Next Generation

Wendy’s advice for anyone starting in multifamily or strategic sales:
  • Build your network early and authentically.
  • Protect your reputation at all costs.
  • Stay curious about operations.
  • Never burn a bridge.
“Multifamily is a big industry, but it’s also very small. People remember how you show up.”

Outside of Work

When she’s not building partnerships, Wendy recharges outdoors by gardening, kayaking, camping, and spending time in nature. She’s also a proud mom to two boys (20 and 17), has been married for 23 years, and rescues dogs.
“Between time outdoors, family, travel, and our dogs, I stay pretty busy and very grateful.”
