If We’re Interested in Setting Up Our Own Captive, How Does Get Covered Help?

Get Covered will take a deep dive into your portfolio, loss history and risk appetite. Get Covered works with many insurance carriers, re-insurers and Captive Managers. Based on your risk appetite, GC will facilitate the most advantageous program for your needs. On average, loss ratios for Renters Insurance have been between 25%-35%, so there’s significant opportunity for profit. However, there is risk associated with these programs and it’s imperative to have the right strategy when implementing.

If We Already Operate Our Own Captive, How Does Get Covered Help?

In this scenario, Get Covered’s greatest value-add is its Insurance Verification and Tracking Services. If residents already have their own 3rd party insurance, Get Covered will review every policy and ensure it meets the building’s minimum requirements. Get Covered eliminates 100% of the work from the onsite/ management team and works with each resident to ensure compliance. Once a policy has been verified, Get Covered will continue to monitor each policy to ensure the resident stays in compliance. If they fail to maintain or cancel their policy after lease signing, GC will auto-enroll them in the owner’s captive and add the additional cost to their rent.

Are We Ready For A Captive?

We recommend our partners take a walk then run approach when considering a captive. We have the flexibility to start partners in a non-captive solution then transition to a captive with the flip of a switch. Once we test the portfolio’s losses and can properly adjust pricing and risk, there is no additional work for our clients when switching from non-captive to captive.
